Your journey begins in Savoleyres, reachable by gondola lift from Verbier.
From the top station, stroll along the road towards Croix de Coeur. Take a right turn and follow the wide Savoleyres road until you meet up with the Le Bisse de Levron irrigate canal (ca 2 km at Les Planards). If you're feeling peckish, you can detour to Restaurant Marmotte on the right side (ca 6 min). Otherwise, take the path that follows the canal on the left. Keep walking along this path as it winds through the cluster forest. After crossing the larger road, Route des Ruinettes continue following the Le Bisse de Levron.
The path will eventually lead you onto Route des Ruinettes, bringing you close to Les Ruinettes (look to your left). From here, you can catch a gondola lift back down to Verbier.
While the full irrigation canal (from 15 th century) is 18 km, you'll be sticking to a shorter, ca 4-km portion for your hike.
Feeling up for some extra exercise on your hike? Instead of hopping on the gondola down from Les Ruinettes, you can extend your adventure with a walk to Verbier. The route follows the Route du Golf, taking you right past a beautiful golf course along the way (Golf Club Verbier)
The trail can be completed going the other way as well.
